This Thematic Working Group was established under the Italian G20 DWG presidency to prioritize food security, nutrition and food systems within G20 response to the COVID19 crisis.
To this end, the Italian Presidency facilitated the work of this Group, which was tasked with the elaboration of the “Matera Declaration” and finally adopted at the first Joint Meeting of Foreign Affairs and Development Ministers (Matera, 29.6.2021). The Declaration calls upon the international community to build inclusive and resilient food chains and ensure adequate nutrition for all, in line with the “Zero Hunger” goal set for 2030.
